What is Hypnosis?
Wikipedia defines hypnosis as: a mental state (state theory) or set of attitudes (nonstate theory) usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction, which is commonly composed of a series of preliminary instructions and suggestions. Hypnotic suggestions may be delivered by a hypnotist in the presence of the subject ("hetero-suggestion"), or may be self-administered ("self-suggestion" or "autosuggestion")

My definition: I like to describe it as a state of consciousness between awake and asleep. Similar to sleep walking or lucid dreams. In this state your imagination will define your reality. The hypnotist guides you to that state and tells your over charged imagination what to do. In this state the hypnotist is in control of reality as you know it and can make you experience just about any known scenario from complete bliss to that of a horror movie.

Control: While the hypnotist can make you do some crazy things he can't break your moral code. If you find any of the suggestions to be immoral or wrong your brain activates a fail safe and rejects the suggestion. Without this fail safe hypnotists could rule the world and have many perform their every bidding. It is for this reason and many others hypnosis is no longer recognized as evidence in a court of law.
